Not just positive reviews. Germain Lussier of Gizmodo noted, “A few strong scenes capture the spirit of the game, but for the most part it’s a pretty silly and basic plot full of bad jokes and even worse songs. Visually, it’s great, but I was bored and annoyed more than entertained.” Critic Rendy Jones was kinder but not 100% convinced: “Mario’s worlds are brought to life with world-class animation and energetic action that kids and fans will love. Still, it’s a Mario movie by Illumination, and I won’t go any further.” With only two days left until the release, fans will be able to find out for themselves what they think of the movie very soon.
