World Fencing Championships 2023 in Milan: the evidence

The Fencing World Championships, now in its 69th edition, have finally arrived in Milan, a city with great traditions in terms of blades and platforms (just think of the champions who, starting with Edo Mangiarotti, have given the name of fencing at an absolute level, and to the various circles of competitive and amateur activity) which until now has remained far from the World Championships. The gap will be closed from July 22nd to 30th at Allianz MiCo, CityLife’s Milan fair. Italy, back from A European luxury (Precedence in the medal table in the individual competitions in Plovdiv, with 10 podiums, including three titles; 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze, instead in collective experiences in Krakow) aims to continue its great tradition. Libra, in fact, speaks of 357 medals in history: 118 gold, 110 silver, 129 bronze. The discipline with the most titles (including team competitions) is men’s foil (43), followed by women’s foil (33), men’s ball (20), men’s saber (14), women’s (5), and women’s saber (3: won only in team competitions).
