Gourlier: “We are working for truly sustainable mobility”

“Our collaboration on the Flex-BD project builds on Comau’s long experience in the automation field to develop flexible, scalable and sustainable operations,” said Comau CEO Pietro Gourlier.

“By expanding its intelligent automation solutions to include the rehabilitation and reuse of high-energy batteries, many of which have up to 80% remaining capacity, Comau is making a tangible contribution to achieving truly sustainable mobility.”

European project Flex-BD

Flex-BD is an automated system that automates the entire disassembly process of used electric batteries, through a highly flexible, scalable and standardizable process.

Once the prototype idea was validated, Comao expanded it to include battery reuse in the automotive sector. The company from Grugliasco (Turin) controlled by Stellantis has worked in collaboration with other partners in the European innovation community EIT Manufacturing, with the aim of developing technologies for the sustainability of electric mobility.
