Monsignor Luigi Betazzi, titular bishop of Ivrea, has died at the age of 99. Born on November 23, 1923 in Treviso, Luigi Pizzi moved in his youth to Bologna, his mother’s native city, where he was ordained a priest in 1946. He participated in three sessions of the Second Vatican Council, at the end of which he was ordained bishop of the diocese of Ivrea, which he administered until 1999.

In 1968 he was appointed National President of Pax Christi (Here is a greeting letter from Kristi Pax), an international Catholic movement for peace and in 1978 he became its international president, until in 1985 he won the UNESCO International Prize for Peace Education for his merits. He authored many books, and the last living Italian bishop was present at the Second Vatican Council.
